Today is the first official day of Winter Break for the kiddos. My calendar feels full with the usual appointments and obligations. And yet two weeks with no school hangs heavy on my calendar, and the holiday season is littered with obligations. The pressure to have the perfect holiday and build memories doubles this time of year and often I fall victim to the siren’s call of Pinterest crafts and snowy outings.

And then I was asked to write a guest post for a local photographer. Something about surviving the holidays with kids. As I wrote the post, I thought of my friend who had been guilted into themed events that were just…too much. By the end of it, I realized I was writing it for me too. I realized it wasn’t just for moms, but for everyone who finds themselves doing more and enjoying it less.

So, if you find yourself caught in the tidal wave of holiday obligation, this is for you.
